Let’s keep that hair shiny, healthy and happy. Here are some tips on getting that shine we all know and love

1. Hydrate. Hair that is hydrated is going to give you the most reflection. I know it’s can be hard to walk that line between too much moisture and just the right

2. Your blow dry. If you are blow drying your hair, don’t use high heat and high speed. You will fry your hair and mess us your color. And always have you nozzle pointed down the hair strand

3. A great serum will work wonders for you. Put a little in on your ends before you blow dry and then a little bit after.

Cooled, darkened, added some length with two rows of hand-tied extensions.

I had to take out her extensions when I moved salons because I wasn’t sure when our schedules would match up again. If I would have left them in, it would have been too much tension on her scalp and hairs. Better to be safe than sorry.

Needless to say, she was ready to have them back in. And is loving that fresh extension feeling.

Balayage, foiliage, foils, highlights, lowlights, dimensional color, tip out, root tap….. I could go on and on.

Let’s break down the the basics, Balayage and foils,

Both are a way of putting highlights in your hair. Can be done with color or lightener.

Balayage is painted on to the hair and usually left to process in the open air or with a clear cling film. It’s going to give you a beautiful sunkissed look. It’s great for adding subtle dimension or brightening up some pieces like on the ends.

Foils are the more traditional option. They can add brightness and depth at the same time. They allow for a more precise placement and can usually lift higher than a balayage can. These are usually better if you want a cooler end result.

Both can be paired with other techniques to allow for a more low-maintenance look.

•use the blow dryer with the nozzle pointed down the hair shaft to gently detangle first then go in with a brush
•start at the bottom then gently work your way up

Some tools that work well are wide tooth combs and wet brushes

✨Bonus: most hairbrushes can be turned vertical to have the pins all in a straight row. ✨

Take a minute to scrape all that hair out of your brush and clean with some dish soap and water.

You will thank me. You can’t have a great blow out with dirty brushes.

Hair buildup, scalp debris, product build up. Get rid of all of it.

Honestly, whatever you are comfy in.

I have seen several stylist lately suggest a color scheme because they want their photos to look cohesive on their feed.

I admire that, but it’s already stressful for a lot of people to even get to their appointment.

I want you to be the most relaxed possible, so wear something comfy.

My only suggestion is to not wear something you love and would be sad to get ruined. I do my very best to not get anything on your clothes, but accidents do happen.

Honestly, whatever you are comfy in.

I have seen several stylist lately suggest a color scheme because they want their photos to look cohesive on their feed.

I admire that, but it’s already stressful for a lot of people to even get to their appointment.

I want you to be the most relaxed possible, so wear something comfy.

My only suggestion is to not wear something you love and would be sad to get ruined. I do my very best to not get anything on your clothes, but accidents do happen.

But when I got done we decided to keep some of the length to see if she liked having that much hair. She is loving it so far!

Welp, I don’t even know where February went. I blinked and it was gone. Even with an extra day. 🐸
